No Innocent Victim on 01-05-2001 by Solar Fox
This is with Tim Mason, the guitarist of No Innocent Victim.
so what has the band been up to lately?
well,we have been working on the new album.we hope to be going into the
studio on jan 25,so we are hoping for it to be released in the spring.
what kind of things do you guys do when you aren’t involved with the
band?-jobs etc…
our bass player kyle fisher works in a tattoo shop, our drummer jason dunn
works part time in a print shop and has his own record label facedown
records.our singer jason moody works at like a auto part distrobution place
and i am a house and commercial painter.
what do you guys like to listen to and what are your big musical
influences?
we all pretty much listen to the same thing like
madball,af,hatebreed,depeche mode,johnny cash.a lot of metal,just anything
hard but not technical and wierd.
do you guys have any upcoming touring plans?
actually we are just concentrating on the next album so after that we
are going to work on some stuff.
i saw that p.o.d. had recently taken living sacrifice out on tour with
them and that you guys got to play with them on the final show of their
tour. is their any possibility that p.o.d. or project86 might take you guys
out on tour any time in the future?
i don't know.there has been some talk about us going out with p.o.d. but
nothing has really happened.so i guess it's up to those guys.
i read in a born blind interview that the scene in california is really
divided between straight edgers, vegans, and christians etc, and that it was
difficult for them to play anywhere besides churches and things like that.
has n.i.v. had any problems of that sort?
no,not at all.we are always playing good shows with all types of
different bands, like eighteen visions, throwdown,i mean all different kinds
of shows and their has never been a problem and they are really good shows
and a lot of kids come out to these shows and have fun.
i guess that several victory records bands had gotten their music put
on a porno without their permission and a lot of people were extremely upset
about that, especially the bands. is there a concern that your music might
get put on something like that and how would you react if it did?
yeah,i heard about that and that every victory band was on their except
for us.i don't know how i would feel about that.that is just really strange
when you think about it.
this brings up another question. once a band signs a deal with a label
is it pretty much up to the label what happens to that band’s music or is
that something bands usually have some control over?
i mean i think the bands should have some say on what's up with their
music.but at the same time it's good to get on comps and stuff to get your
music out.but yeah, bands should have some type of say.
i’ve seen you guys play the last three years at cornerstone and all
three shows have been really great and you get an incredible reaction from
the kids there. is cornerstone and especially big/fun show for you?
for me,it is just so awesome.i mean you don't play that many shows
where their is 6-8,000 kids going absolutly nuts under a tent just packed
and overflowing with people their to see you play and to just have a good
time.it's just so awesome
what is the new album going to be like? do you guys have a title for it
or anything and when will it be released?
the new album is definatly heavier than the last album but simple at
the same time.we have talked about different titles but we are not set on
one yet.we hope for it to be released in spring so be looking for it around
that time.
