Grace For The Fallen on 01-29-2001 by propheci
1) Who are you and what do you do for "Grace for the Fallen"?
my name is mark and I am the vocalist.
2) How did the band come about?
well, that's actually a long story but in
short,GFTF started in 1996 as the band "44evergiven" and it basically
started out as four friends who loved hardcore and since then there has been
many shows, member changes, two tours, and a definite change in musical style.
3) What are your and the band's main influences?
musically,our band draws
alot of influence from bands like:strongarm, shai hulud, turmoil, poison the
well, cave in,undying, darkest hour and bands of that sort.where alot of
people pick one "click" of the genre (metalcore, old school, new school)and
all those other subtitles,we like to listen to all of it and I think it
shows in our music as well.I feel our music is brutal as well as
beautiful, metal as well as melodic.Lyrically, our band desires to express two
things:personal experiences so that someone might be able to relate to it
and it might help them with their lives. Also our band desires to express our
beliefs through our songs whether it be spiritual or social issues.
4) List some recent albums you've bought and really liked.
the new
undying, darkest hour "the mark of judas",burn it down "let the dead bury the
dead",killswithch engage, and I am eagerly awating the release of the new
converge album ,and the new underoath is amazing!!
5) What has the band being doing recently? Any plans on new album or tours?
we are currently playing shows in our immediate area (VA,NC,MD) and we
plan on recording in april and follow up with a tour in the summer.
6) If you weren't in the music business, what would you be doing?
probably
just working, buying cd's,going to shows and getting tattooed (really just my
life minus the band)
7) Any thoughts on the current hXc scene?
yes,I have alot of them,but I
will keep it short.the positive side to hardcore is that the music has
progressed so much over the years and it's getting way more exposure.the
negative side is you still got kids starting fights at shows and you also
still have the people who can't get it through there heads that hardcore is
not just about what they believe.some people think they wrote the book on
this scene and what they say is like the hardcore creed or something.their
feeble minds can't grasp the concept that not everyone in this "scene" is
going to have different beliefs than them.not everyone is going to be
sxe,vegan,christian,athiest,pro-life,pro-choice,or whatever.I mean when are
people going to finally realize that hardcore is about expressing our
personal beliefs and to respect the different beliefs of others instead of
bashing each other.
8) What does the band do when they're not touring or recording?
talk about how much we want tour and record :)
