Darkest Hour on 02-08-2001 by propheci

1) Who are you and what do you do for Darkest Hour?

Mike Schleibaum - I play guitar, John Henry - Vocals

2) Have you started writing and recording for the new album on Victory yet?

Well we started writing the record in late December and it is almost done. We are going to be recording it in early March at Salad Day's with Brian Mcternan, he did our last record too.

3) Do you have a title for the new record yet?

No not yet we have a few ideas but nothing has really stuck yet.

4) Compared to "Mark of the Judas", how is the new record going to be different?

This record is a little more band focused. The songs are striped down and more raw.

5) How has Victory treated you so far?

Everyone there has been pretty positive and easy to work with. We really haven't done much except negotiate the contract, work on some interviews, and work on the press release. The real test and work will come after we have recorded the record.

6) Any guesses on release date, start of recording date?

The release date will be the last week of August 2001.

7) What are some of your and the band's influences?

We all listen to a lot of different music but the metal influences include: Entombed, At the Gates, Damnation ad, and Carcass among others.

8) Are there any tours planned for the upcoming months?

We are doing a few dates here and there but recording is going to take up a lot of our time. Look for us out on the road around June.

9) Will there be any EPs or splits releases in conjunction with the new album?

None are planed right now but the vinyl for "Mark of the Judas" is coming out on Fueled By Ramen sometime soon.

10) List some CDs you've bought recently and really liked.

High on Fire - The art of self defense, Entombed - Uprising, Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight, Cave In - Jupiter, Nebula-Lowrider split, From ashes rise - new LP, lots of others we can't think of right now.

11) What does the band do for fun when not playing music?

We just like to raise hell. Were not having fun unless were playing some rock.

12) What are some of your funniest or craziest tour experiences?

One good time was when us and Drowningman got hotel rooms at a real shitty motel in Louisville. We had a whole lot of booze in us and got chased by a couple of pimps who were pissed because Ryan (our drummer) and Matt Roy (of drowningman) were banging on the window of a room that some random dude told them housed some prostitutes. Fred (our guitarist), meanwhile was writhing on the floor spouting nonsense and getting emotional. It was fantastic. There's so much more, but this is getting too long, and it's mostly blurry anyways.

13) What did you think of the Macrock Fest last year?

It was amazing! Some of the most fun we've had at a show happened there. We're playing again this year and hopefully it will be just as cool.
