Born Blind on 10-20-2000 by propheci
They're from San Diego. They're old school. They're cool.
1. who are you and what do you do for the band?
My name is Nate Jarrell. I play guitar.
2. how and when did the band come about?
We've been around for a little over three years. Judd, our singer was playing bass for No Innocent Victim and decided to leave so he could finish school. I was about to join NIV and decided not to for the same reason. We still wanted to play hardcore so we asked Kurt and Chris to join. The rest went from there
3. what are your and the bands' influences?
We love all the old stuff. Cro-mags, agnostic front, judge;stuff like that. There's alot of great new bands out there too right now. There's just too many to name. I'm also into a lot of punk rock and I really like old country and rockabilly.
4. what does hardcore mean to you?
Hardcore to me is all about being able to be who you are and just have a good time with your friends. I know that's a pretty generic answer but that's what it's always been to me. It's a more reality based type of music and just tends to deal with things everyone goes through. I think that is what drew me to it in the first place.
5. is the band sXe, etc.?
No, we aren't a straight edge band.
6. do you think "old school" hardcore has been lost?
No, there's still alot of bands out there doing that style. Hardcore has definately changed but you can't expect something to stay the same forever. If it does it just stagnates. I've seen tons of changes in the scene, but for the most part the attitude behind it has stayed the same and that is what makes hardcore what it is.
7. what do you hope to accomplish with new album?
I just want to get our music out to a bigger range of people and be able to play as many shows as possible. We love playing fun shows, and getting to hang out with all the cool people we meet
8. are there any tours planned for the future?
We are going to be doing a short tour this spring and then we will be playing all the big festivals this summer.
9. if you weren't in the music scene, what would you be?
I'm in school right now to be a teacher. That's probably what I'll be doing by the time born blind ends.
10. if you could hold a show with any band you wanted, past and present. who would you want to play with?
It would probably be sick of it all
Thanks for the interview!!!
